New IRS Mileage Rate is 57.5 Cents - December 18, 2014

Three Year Enrollment Summary Report Now Available for Review - December 16, 2014

The Three Year Enrollment Summary report is available for district data coordinators and State Aid Designees to access via the Information and Reporting Services Portal (IRSP – http://portal.nysed.gov). Information on accessing and using the IRSP can be found at http://www.p12.nysed.gov/irs/irs-portal/. The report displays three years of BEDS Day enrollment and free/reduced price lunch eligible counts (Fall 2012, Fall 2013 and Fall 2014) based on data reported to the Education Department via the SIRS and BEDS on-line data systems. It is critical that you review the counts on the Three Year Enrollment Summary report to ensure that they are accurate. READ MORE >>

 

Weather Related Closures - December 15, 2014

In order to retain Foundation Aid, school districts must be in session for all students, including students with disabilities, for not less than 180 days. Included in the 180 days are days on which attendance is taken, days on which Regents examinations, State Assessments or local examinations are given (including the June Regents Rating Day) and days on which superintendent's conference days are held. 2013-14 Actual and 2014-15 Estimated NRT Rates Now Available - December 11, 2014

The 2013-14 Actual Nonresident Tuition Report (NRT) and the 2014-15 Estimated Nonresident Tuition Report (NRT EST) Output Reports have been published by SED. The reports can be accessed through your district’s State Aid webpage, located with your district’s other Output Reports. READ MORE >>

2013-14 Final Aid Adjustments & Reconciliation Worksheet - December 9, 2014

The State Aid Unit recently sent Final Aid Adjustment notices to all districts with final General Aid adjustments (SA32) and Excess Cost Aid adjustments (SA32EC). Please note that overpayments in both of these areas, if applicable, will be combined and deducted from the December 2014 General Aid or Excess Cost Aid Payment. Recalibration of Interest Rates Affecting Building Aid - December 2, 2014

SED has posted an update on the ‘Recalibration of Interest Rates Affecting Building Aid.’ The memo can be found here: https://stateaid.nysed.gov/build/pdf_docs/combined_overview_and_waiver_document.pdf. Please note the information on a waiver process where districts can apply to the Commissioner of Education for a waiver relating to the interest rate recalculation if they can demonstrate that they are precluded by state or federal law, rule or regulation from refinancing. Annual Visual Inspections (AVI) of School Buildings - November 24, 2014

On Friday November 21, 2014 the Governor signed legislation (Chapter 437) which eliminates the requirement for Annual Visual Inspections (AVI) of school buildings. This act takes effect immediately. Please note: the requirement of school district’s to perform Building Condition Survey (BCS) every five years remains in place. 2014-15 State Aid Output Reports - Now Available - November 19, 2014

State Aid Output Reports for the 2014-15 aid year are now publically available on the SED State Aid website at https://stateaid.nysed.gov. Previously, 2014-15 State Aid Output Reports were available only by logging into the State Aid Management System (SAMS) with a USER NAME and PASSWORD. READ MORE >>

 

Medicaid Alert – Action Required - November 19, 2014
