Reminder: Tax Freeze Government Efficiency Plans Due June 1 - May 28, 2015

Tax Freeze Efficiency Plans are due to NYSDOB by June 1, 2015. Approval of these plans are required for district taxpayers to receive their 2015-16 tax freeze rebate. Registration for the Tax Freeze Government Efficiency Plans is available at: http://www.budget.ny.gov/govEfficiencyPlans/govEfficiencyPlans.html. Included on the site are instructions, sample certifications, and the link for registering a plan.

Final Cost Reports Due June 30, 2015 - May 7, 2015

The NYSED State Aid Unit has posted the list of School District and BOCES capital construction projects with Final Cost Reports (FCRs) due June, 30, 2015 that have not been received by SED (as of 4/11/15). To see if your district is on the list, select the “FCRs due 6-30-15” tab and select your district in the drop down menu. https://stateaid.nysed.gov/build/xls_docs/FCR_due_6302015.xlsx. To avoid losing Building Aid, FCRs must be submitted by June 30, 2015.

2015-16 State Aid Factors - Now Available - May 6, 2015

The 2015-16 State Aid Factors are now available. This report provides district specific factors used in various categorical aid calculations as well as a review of formula based aid and enrollment counts. To access your district’s specific information, enter your 6-digit BEDS code at the top of the spreadsheet and the factors will automatically populate.

 

Smart Schools Bond Act Implementation Guidance – NOW AVAILABLE - April 27, 2015

Guidance on the implementation of the $2 billion Smart Schools Bond Act has been posted by SED at: http://www.p12.nysed.gov/mgtserv/smart_schools/home.html. The portal to submit your Smart Schools Bond Application will be available on or before June 15, 2015. Please note there are no specific deadlines for submission of the Smart Schools Investment Plan as the funds do not expire. We are currently reviewing the document and will provide further information in the near future. School Report Cards and Fiscal Accountability Supplement - NOW AVAILABLE - April 17, 2015

The 2013-14 School Report Cards are now posted online at http://data.nysed.gov. Users should click on the “Districts” tab in the top right corner. Districts are arranged alphabetically. READ MORE >>

REMINDER: Updates to 2014-15 and 2015-16 Aid Data Due to SED by April 17th - April 7, 2015

SED will provide the Executive and the Legislature with another set of 2014-15 and 2015-16 aid estimates on May 15th. It’s important to note that the May 15th frozen file also determines 2014-15 June State Aid payment amounts. To guarantee inclusion in the May State Aid database file, all revisions to data reported on Forms A, FT, FB and the ST-3 should be submitted by April 17, 2015 using the State Aid Management System (SAMS). January Regents Days and June Superintendent’s Conference Day - April 2, 2015

The State Aid Unit has posted guidance on how to count and report session days for the week of January 26-30, 2015. This guidance provides information for those districts that had to re-schedule Regents exams in January due to weather conditions. The guidance is here. It has also now been determined that districts may schedule a Superintendent’s Conference day on Friday, June 26, 2015. Information is here.

Tax Freeze Efficiency Plans Sample Certifications - April 1, 2015

The Tax Freeze Efficiency Plans require certifications that your district will implement the described efficiencies and that those efficiencies will result in a calculated savings by the Superintendent and Chief Financial Officer, respectively.
